New York (Newt Scamander x reader)

You walk up to the deck to feel a gentle breeze blowing trough your hair, bringing a smell of salt and sea with it. It was going to be an amazing weekend in New York. You had taken a small vacation from your duty at the Beast division in the Ministry of Magic. The first few days of the vacation had got you bored alone at home but when you got an owl from your good friend Newt Scamander, saying that he would be in New York in three days and asking if you would care to join him, you had of course sent a letter back to him saying that it would be your pleasure.  And so you left after a day of packing. And after two days on a boat you got to New York.

"Hey! Newt!" you call out to the man standing outside the toll and he waves at you.
After getting past the toll you run to him and jump to a hug. He seems surprised and kind of awkward and you let go with reddened cheeks after realizing your spontaneous actions.

"I-I’m sorry about that." you say and hide your faze pretending to look at the clock.

"I-It’s ok…" Newt says and looks at you with a red-ish tint on his cheeks. "I think we should get going."

You nod, and Newt leads you to two women who introduce themselves as Tina and Queenie Goldstein, the four of you decide to go to the girls’ apartment and Queenie leaves to get Jacob to join you. You walk close to Newt and occasionally your fingers brush the back of Newts hand and sends chills down your spine. In the corner of your eye you see Tina looking at you like she would want to say something very badly but calms herself and successfully sparks a conversation between you and her.

"So, (y/n), what brings you to New York city?"

"Newt actually asked me to come here and I had just taken a small vacation in a need to relax and so the idea of relaxing totally blew off my mind as I started thinking what it would be like here in U.S." You say and look at Newt happily. He looks back at you with a shy smile but with happiness clearly visible in it.

You get to Tina’s and Queenie’s place and Queenie is already there. Apparently Jacob had a lot of work at the bakery so he couldn’t make it. You sit down at the table with Tina and Newt, and Queenie starts making dinner

"So, are you two together or something?" She asks after watching you and newt exchange multiple smiles on your way to the apartment. You can feel the heat burning your cheeks with a blush.

"No!" Both you and Newt say at the same time. "We’re… just friends!" you continue, even though you clearly feel that Tina sees right trough you. She looks at you with an understanding smile.

But you like him, don't you (y/n)?" Queenie asks just like newt wouldn't even sit there right in front of her. And once again you felt your cheeks turn red. You looked down at your lap and played with a strand of your (h/c) hair. In the corner of your eye you saw Newt trying to avoid Tina's amused look.

"I-I think I should go get some fresh air." Newt said and stood up."I'll be right back." He walked quickly out of the room and left the apartment.

"But the food is just ready!" Queenie cried out after the door had closed.
Tina looked at you and nodded at the door. "I think you should go after him."
You looked at Tina and nodded, you got up and walked out of the room leaving Tina to help Queenie with the food.
You walked quickly past the shops and houses until you got to the central park, and on the small bridge crossing the frozen river you saw Newt leaning on the railing and looking at the snowy park. You walked up to him and leaned next to him, with your back pressing against the railing. You looked up at the sky as a small snowflake landed on your (h/c) hair you didn't notice it but Newt did and brushed it off your hair with his hand. You blush and turn your gaze to your shoes.

"It's really beautiful here." You say as you finally turn your head back up to look at your surroundings.

"Yes, you are."

"What did you say?" You ask and feel embaressed for hearing wrong and needing to ask again.

Newt understands what he had just said and blushes. "Yes, yes it is"

You feel kind of dissapointed and blame yourself for hoping for such things. You know well that he could never love you but still, even though it is impossible, you hope that he would.

"I love you." You blurt out. You slap your hands on your mouth as you understand what had happened. You had just confessed by saying your toughts outloud. You felt like you could have melted into a pool of water. But then something unexpected happened, you feel warm hands taking your own hands off of your mouth and replasing them with warm lips. You can't first quite understand the situation, but when you close your eyes you melt into the kiss. Your other hand moves to Newts hair and pulls him closer to you, deepening the kiss, and you feel Newts hands on your waist pulling you closer. When you finally get apart to get some air, Newts hands are on your waist and yours are locked around his neck.

"I guess we should head back in." You say with a smile and newt nodds. You take his hand and the two of you walk to the apartment. When you walk in, both Tina and Queenie see your locked hands and a happy grin spreads on both of their faces.


And let me just say, that trip was the start for the rest of your life.
